Achieving Change:- Gordon Brown's speech to Citizens UK



Saw this on Fiona's facebook, and wanted to blog it because it really should be an inspiration to anyone who is working towards change, whatever one thinks of the labour party or of Gordon Brown. The words are stirring.

    This is a great reminder that changing a country, or the world, is a lifetime's work - not the work of a few parliaments. Those of us who care about social justice and a fair future for the next generations need to be reminded occasionally that change doesn't come overnight, and it's hard fought. Let's not give up now...

Some thoughts on the White Saviour Complex of development consultancies

Year 2014: Buddhist era 2557-2558

There was an interesting debate among colleagues that was triggered by the simple fact that I shared the official government calendar for 2014.  The Calendar has, as it has had in the previous year, and possibly many years prior to that,  the sub title -  Buddhist Era 2557-2558. This triggered a discussion on whether it was appropriate to have that on the calendar or not.  The argument against seemed to be based on it being seen as an imposition by the State of Buddhism, into areas that are perceived as secular and non-religious.
